# Lumina > Bring out what you saw. A free photo studio, right in your browser. Lumina is a free photo editing studio that runs on your device. Develop light and color with an eight-band color mixer, try creative looks, crop on the photo and straighten the horizon, add styled text and watermarks, and export a finished image without uploading your photo; editable projects, browser autosave and optional Google Drive saving keep your work together. Photo Lab adds collages, contact sheets, image joining, animated GIFs, batch exports and image splitting. Tone Lab adds RGB curves, levels, neutral white balance, clipping warnings and reusable processing profiles. Design Layers combines images, text and shapes with transforms, blend modes and reversible masks. Lumina (Photo editor & image toolkit) is a premium app of usefulweb.site (https://usefulweb.site/): a full program that runs in the browser. Its engine is deterministic and the same functions are exposed as tools, so an agent can compute exactly what the app shows. ## Use it - Landing page: https://lumina.usefulweb.site/ - Workspace (browser app): https://lumina.usefulweb.site/app - open a project with https://lumina.usefulweb.site/app#project= or a template with https://lumina.usefulweb.site/app#template= - Project file format (JSON Schema): https://lumina.usefulweb.site/project.schema.json - Tutorials: https://lumina.usefulweb.site/tutorials - JSON API: POST https://lumina.usefulweb.site/api/v1/tools//calculate (catalog: https://lumina.usefulweb.site/api/v1/tools) - OpenAPI: https://lumina.usefulweb.site/openapi.json - MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://lumina.usefulweb.site/mcp ## Engine tools - [Photo Crop & Resize Planner](https://luminaresizeplanner.usefulweb.site/): Plan a precise crop and output size before resizing a photo. Design Layers adds image layers, blend modes and masks. No PSD import, smart objects, healing or AI subject detection. - Noise smoothing and sharpening are classic local filters, not learned restoration. - Straighten enlarges the photo to fill the frame (up to ±45°) instead of filling the corners. Text uses fonts installed on the device, so exports can differ slightly between systems. - GIF import uses one frame; animation is not preserved. AVIF import depends on browser support. - Photo Lab: up to 24 photos, 32 MP decoded in total, 16 MP output and approximately 60 MB of embedded sources. GIF output uses a fixed 256-color palette and at most 12 million total frame pixels. - Design Layers: 24 layers, eight image layers, 4 MP canvas and image limit, 24 MP of uniquely decoded images, 12 MB embedded source budget and 12000 brush points. No perspective warp or arbitrary vector paths. - Browser projects stay on this device; save a project file for a durable backup.
